  i asked my therapist if it is possible for a patient to be re-traumatized during the course of treatment.

  confronting memories over and over again.

  painting mental images even more graphic to replace the vague ones i once had-is this a good thing?

  So What Tipped You Out, Then?

  can you remember that distinct moment in your life when you suddenly knew that your time as a jw was truly over?.

  for me, that moment came several years after the removal of my privileges in the congregation when i admitted to having known my then fiance in a way that was not fitting for a ministerial servant.. i was quickly stripped of my 2 servants jobs, group study conducting, pioneer status, public talk giving and praying in the kh.

  i was also forbidden to ever be alone with the lady concerned.. about 15 months later i was assigned a public talk, after 30 minutes i dried up.

  ive not been to a meeting in five years probably.

  yet my husband still goes and i always envision him going in and the hardy handshakes he gives, greeting and being greeted, sitting there with all those suits with the secrets hidden inside, and all those pretty dresses hiding the pain.

  if i wasnt disassociated, i wonder if i would be bolder, speak up, be honest with the "friends" instead of toeing the company line.

  I can't go anywhere in my circuit where I wouldn't be recognized.
  Frenchy you are the second person in the last two days to mention panic attacks at the KH. I had them too.

  can someone please tell me why pro-witness posters frequently tell other posters that they are lying?

  xandit has just done it to focus -who`s post was well researched and informative - friday on h20 does it for a pastime, as do most of the pro witness brigade.. i have to say that, in my experience, people who shout "liar!

  " have usually turned out to be persons who`s own truthfullness can often be called into question.. calling someone a liar is, in my book, a dire insult, and will result in a challenge to pistols at dawn if that particular form of abuse is ever pointed in my direction!.

  Thank you! Englishman, I've said it before, and I'll say again here. I think we all took enough bashing when we were in the Watchtower. I see no need for it here. I think we need to respect each others opinions, whether we agree with them or not! No need for name calling or rudeness.

  Just being, I understand your confusion. Continue to check out the JW beliefs and I think it will give you a better handle on your friend. And go easy on him. Just be a friend. Hopefully, he will begin to think on his own.

  Thank you for the validation!!! This is so true. Although as DA brought out different things work for different people.
  I like to think we can all be open minded and accepting of all. (doesn't always work out that way, but it is a good concept)
  I think we all need to be reminded of our accomplishments.

  DA,
  Let me welcome you to the board, if I haven't already.
  You do have a very unusual mindset for one of JW's, if I may say so. It is a commendable one.
  I agree, that the WT has deviated drastically from the examples in the Bible.
  My husband, Thinker has been dying to communicate with a still active JW. He is not argumentative, just seeking open discussion.
  Our email is open if you would feel comfortable doing so.
